Gentle, rhythmic massage

Lymphatic Drainage Massage in Glasgow

A very gentle, rhythmic treatment for people who feel puffy, heavy or uncomfortable with mild fluid retention. I use light, controlled movements rather than conventional massage pressure.

What is lymphatic drainage massage?

Lymphatic drainage massage — sometimes called manual lymphatic drainage — is a light, rhythmic technique that encourages the movement of lymph fluid around the body.

The lymphatic system plays a part in the body's fluid balance. When things feel sluggish, fluid can seem to build up and leave you feeling puffy or heavy. This treatment works with the body's own rhythm, using very gentle strokes to support natural lymph flow.

Gentle support for puffiness, swelling and heaviness

Fluid retention can leave the body feeling tight, heavy or sluggish. Lymphatic drainage massage is often chosen for mild puffiness around the legs, ankles or face, or simply when deeper massage does not appeal. People commonly book when they notice:

  • Mild puffiness or water retention
  • Heavy or tired-feeling legs
  • A bloated or sluggish feeling
  • Temporary puffiness after travel
  • Sensitivity to deeper massage pressure
  • A need for a slow, calming treatment

New, painful, one-sided or unexplained swelling requires medical assessment rather than a massage appointment.

Gentle by design

Lymphatic drainage isn't a deep or forceful treatment — and that's intentional. Many people expect massage to be firm to be worthwhile, but this works differently: light, controlled movements that encourage flow without strain.

For some clients it feels unlike any massage they've had before — slower and quieter, giving the body time to respond. It's particularly suited to anyone who feels sensitive, fatigued or simply in need of a more nurturing approach.

A treatment that's calming, too

Although it's often chosen for physical reasons, many clients notice how relaxing lymphatic drainage feels. The slow, repetitive rhythm makes it easy to switch off, and some people make it a regular way to reset.

What to expect

I will ask what you have noticed, how long it has been present and whether you have any health conditions or recent treatment that could affect suitability. The treatment itself remains slow, light and comfortable.

During your treatment

  • Light, controlled and repetitive movements
  • Much lighter pressure than Swedish or deep tissue massage
  • A steady pace that many clients find calming

Afterwards, you may feel

  • You may notice a sense of lightness or reduced puffiness
  • Some people simply feel deeply relaxed
  • Results vary from person to person

Gentle movement and normal hydration can support general comfort; there is no need to force large amounts of water.

Ask about suitability before booking

Is lymphatic drainage massage right for you?

Lymphatic drainage massage may be a good fit if you:

  • Feel puffy, heavy or sluggish
  • Find deeper pressure uncomfortable
  • Want a gentle treatment that still feels purposeful
  • Are looking for something restorative

Not sure? You don’t need to have it all figured out before you book. Ask me a question and I’ll help you choose.

How it works

Three simple steps

  1. 1

    A short consultation

I ask where you feel puffy or heavy and check for anything that means the treatment should be adapted.

  2. 2

Your treatment, adapted as you go

Light, slow, rhythmic strokes. The pressure never needs to be firm to do its job.

  3. 3

    Time to settle afterwards

Drink some water, keep moving gently and give your body a day or two to respond.

Common questions

Lymphatic Drainage Massage FAQs

Is lymphatic drainage massage painful?

No. It uses very light, rhythmic movements and should feel gentle. It is quite different from deep tissue massage.

Is this manual lymphatic drainage (MLD)?

Lymphatic drainage massage at The Reset Room uses the light, rhythmic manual techniques often described as manual lymphatic drainage, or MLD. It is very different from a firm massage: the pressure is gentle and the movements are slow and repetitive.

Can lymphatic drainage massage help water retention?

Some clients notice less puffiness or heaviness after treatment, particularly with mild temporary fluid retention. Results vary, and ongoing or unexplained swelling should be discussed with a healthcare professional.

Does lymphatic drainage massage cause weight loss?

No. A temporary change in retained fluid is not body-fat loss. I offer this as a gentle treatment for comfort and relaxation, not for weight loss.

Can I book after surgery?

Contact me before booking. Post-operative massage requires appropriate training, correct timing and clearance from the relevant healthcare professional. Do not assume a general lymphatic drainage appointment is suitable for surgical aftercare.

What should I do after the treatment?

Continue normal hydration, move gently and pay attention to how you feel. Seek medical advice if swelling becomes painful, worsens or is accompanied by other concerning symptoms.
