What is reflexology?
Reflexology is a holistic therapy based on the idea that points on the feet relate to different areas of the body. Gentle pressure is applied to these points with the aim of encouraging relaxation and a sense of overall wellbeing.
Unlike massage, reflexology focuses entirely on the feet. Even so, many people say the relaxation is felt through the whole body and lasts well beyond the session.
Reflexology for stress, sleep and relaxation
You do not need to have a particular problem to book reflexology. Many clients choose it because the repetitive pressure and unhurried pace help them settle. Reflexology may appeal if you:
- Feel stressed or mentally overloaded
- Struggle to make time for rest
- Want a gentle treatment
- Prefer to remain clothed
- Enjoy foot-based therapies
- Want an alternative to massage
Some clients feel deeply relaxed or sleepy during the session. Others simply appreciate an uninterrupted hour in a calm room. Experiences vary.
I offer reflexology as a complementary treatment for relaxation. Pressure on the feet cannot diagnose illness or treat a specific organ or medical condition.
A different kind of relaxation treatment
Reflexology feels different from most treatments. There's no need to think about pressure or specific aches — the experience is quieter, slower and more inward.
Many clients describe it as one of the few times they properly relax without distraction. It isn't about fixing one issue; it's about creating space for you to reset.
What to expect
After a short consultation, I will help you settle into a supported position and work methodically across the feet. Pressure should feel comfortable, although some points may feel more sensitive than others.
During your treatment
- You can usually remain clothed; I will explain how to prepare
- Controlled pressure applied in a set sequence across the feet
- You can talk, rest quietly or drift off
Afterwards, you may feel
- Many clients feel calm and unhurried
- Some feel sleepy and find it easier to wind down
- Others simply enjoy having had quiet time
There is nothing you need to perform or get right.

Common questions
Reflexology FAQs
What does reflexology do?
Reflexology applies pressure to points on the feet within a traditional mapped system. People commonly book it for relaxation and quiet time rather than for treatment of a diagnosed condition.
Is reflexology painful?
It should feel comfortable. Some points can feel more sensitive, but the pressure can be adjusted immediately.
Can reflexology help stress or anxiety?
The calm setting and repetitive touch may support relaxation when you feel stressed or overwhelmed. Reflexology is complementary and does not replace mental health or medical support.
Can reflexology help sleep?
Some clients feel sleepy during or after a session and find it easier to wind down. This is an individual response, not a guaranteed treatment for insomnia.
Is reflexology the same as a foot massage?
No. A foot massage generally works with the muscles and soft tissues of the feet. Reflexology follows a structured system of pressure points traditionally associated with other areas of the body.
Do you offer foot reflexology in Glasgow?
Yes. Reflexology at The Reset Room is foot reflexology: a relaxing, structured treatment using gentle pressure on the feet while you rest. The room is in Bridgeton, in Glasgow’s East End, and easy to reach from the city centre and Southside.
